Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
